When it comes to chocolate, there are the everyday bars we consume , which are factory made, most have excessive amounts of sugar and glucose and come nowhere close in flavor or aroma to real chocolate.

What makes Belgian chocolate unique is the quality of ingredients and an almost fanatical adherence to Old World manufacturing techniques. Even in today’s world of automation and mass production, most Belgian chocolate is still made by hand in small shops using original equipment. In fact, these small chocolate outlets are a popular draw for tourists visiting Belgium today. Much like wineries, tours of Belgian chocolate shops include tastings and exclusive souvenirs.

Belgian chocolate itself has been popular since the 18th century,using a special version of chocolate called “couverture” as a shell for what we call “pralines”. These pralines are not the same as the sugary treats offered in supermarkets worldwide under the guise of “chocolates”. Belgian chocolate pralines could be filled with a variety of nut brittle,, creams, ganache blended with nuts, fruits, liqueuer or more chocolate.
New wave chocolatiers create interesting blends with chilli, herbs, seeds, cheese and even vinegar and garlic!!

Belgian chocolates must be stored and transported at temperatures between 15-18 degrees Centigrade, as extreme changes in temperature cause the cocoa butter to settle on the surface creating a whitish bloom , which may not look so appetizing though it does not affect. the flavor or taste of the praline.

Belgian chocolate may be expensive, but those who have sampled it say that there is no comparison between a standard chocolate bar and a Belgian praline. As a gift or special indulgence, Belgian chocolate is one product which lives up to its reputation for quality and feel good charm.

Our milk chocolate has a healthy cocoa content and is well rounded in flavor and is used mainly as a covering for our Jus’Bisks, Original Milk and our lollipops for kids.
